WORSHIP
We want to ensure you feel comfortable with how our services flow. Here’s a brief overview of a typical service structure: Sing | Bible | Action. These elements flow together seamlessly as we focus our hearts on what God wants to teach us.
Sing: We begin with a warm greeting and a reminder of who we are as a church. This invites us to worship. This part of the service centers on who God is and what He has done, helping us to understand who we are before a Holy God. This initial part of the service typically includes a greeting/ welcome and one or two songs. We then take a break and hear about important community events that are taking place inside and outside the walls of our church. Being updated in this way is a part of our worship service because worship isn’t just singing. Its everything we do that can glorify God. Worship doesn’t just take place on Sunday morning. It happens all week long for those who are a part of PCC.
Children: Our children and youth have an important place in our larger gathering. We highlight what the kids will be learning and invite them to the lower level for a focused learning time on God’s word during the sermon up stairs. We then continue to sing 1 or 2 more songs to help us focus our hearts towards the Word.
Bible: Recognizing our separation from God, we turn our focus to Jesus, the Word of God (John 1:1-5). Through His sacrifice and resurrection, we can be reconciled with God. This leads to a time of biblical teaching that encourages us to live according to God’s call in our lives. This portion of our service will include a contextual scripture reading before an application sermon is preached. We aim to be faithful to God’s word and communicate it clearly and practically in everyday life.
Action: After reflecting on God’s Word, we’re invited to respond. We spend time in prayer again as a community. We pray for specific needs in our church and our community.
We invite those who call PCC their church home to give financially as they feel led. Giving comes out of a tithing concept. At Powers Creek, we love to give! God loves a cheerful giver!
On the first Sunday of each month, we also celebrate Communion, using bread and juice to remember Jesus’ sacrifice and renew our commitment to Him as we anticipate His return (1 Cor.11:23-26). We invite all those who have given their life to Jesus to participate with us!
Our service then concludes with another song and a benediction. The Benediction aims to summarize what we have just heard and how we need to live in light of it as we head out into the next week!
